What Causes White Spots on Your Nails?
White spots on your nails can have two different causes, depending on whether they're internal or external.
Internal white spots appear beneath a smooth nail surface. If you run your finger over the nail and it feels smooth, the white spot is inside the nail plate. These spots are often the result of the nail not bonding together properly as it formed and can be associated with factors like hormonal changes, certain medications, or nutritional issues.
External white spots, on the other hand, are caused by damage to the surface of the nail. They feel slightly rough and can occur from trauma, improper polish removal, or leaving nail polish on for too long.
At our natural nail spa, we believe healthy polish starts with healthy nails. That's why we identify and address the underlying cause of white spots before applying any polish so your nails can become strong and healthy.
